Toward inclusive hadronic physics with lattice QCD
There has been a recent renaissance of people thinking about computing inclusive quantities using lattice QCD. Observables of interest include the R-ratio [with relevance to (g-2) of the muon] and fully inclusive structure functions [with relevance to upcoming neutrino experiments like DUNE]. A key step in such calculations is a numerically delicate “spectral reconstruction” problem. My talk will give some general context for recent theoretical insights in this area. I will also describe a new method I have developed, based on general features of complex analytic functions, for carrying out the spectral reconstruction problem. I will discuss a remarkable bounding property of the new method, which comes from the analytic structure of Green’s function in field theory.
